Happy Easter Weekend!

When I spotted this genius little project at Icing Designs, I knew I had to try it!
As usual, my procrastinating ways got in the way. The Target dollar section was completely out of the bunny ear headbands by the time I got around to checking.  Sigh...

So I came home with this ugly little felt bunny basket and a jar.

And they just aren't as cute as what I'd pictured.  They do have a cotton tail though, I just didn't get a picture.
Oh well...I'm officially making a new-Easter-resolution to not procrastinate so much next year!
Hopefully the niece and nephews will at least like the candy.

Happy Easter weekend to you!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter Everyone! Hope the Easter Bunny paid a nice visit today!
With my little mini-vacation, I went the store-bought route for the niece and nephews. Not enough time to get crafty this year.
I did manage to whip up a yummy lemon cake for dessert.
I thought I'd share the recipe with you. It was delicious!
recipe adapted from here

Lemon Bundt Cake
Cream together 1 cup of softened butter and 2 cups of sugar
Mix in 4 eggs (1 at a time)
Add 3 cups flour and 2 tsp baking powder and mix
Add 1/2 cup lemon juice and 1/4 cup milk and 1/4 cup cream and mix
Stir in 1 tbsp lemon zest
Bake in greased bundt cake pan for 60 minutes at 350 degrees

In a frying pan, whisk together 1/2 cup lemon juice, 3/4 cup sugar, and 1 tbsp water over medium heat until combined and slightly thickened
Spoon over the cake before serving
This is a great cake for spring or summer! We ate it with sliced strawberries - Yum!

Easter Cake Pops

Last year I attempted to make Bakerella's Easter Egg Cake Pops for my niece and nephews.
I'm not sure that I did them justice, but it was a lot of fun!
I "planted" them in flower pots from the dollar section at Target...
...with a little Easter grass and candy eggs.
Cute!
Now I need to figure out what I'm making them this year...

I am Loving: Easter Trees

I loved decorating our Easter tree with my Mom when I was growing up.
Now I love these beautiful versions.
Bright and fun, from Womans Day.

A subtler, more sophisticated version, from Country Living.

Martha's lovely version.

DIY Idea: Dark Easter Eggs

I was flipping through our newest issue of Sunset Magazine tonight, and came across a great Easter tip.

They suggest dyeing brown eggs, rather than the traditional white eggs.  Apparently it makes the colors darker and brighter.  Who ever said Easter had to be all pastels?

I think its a brilliant idea.  And the colors are brilliant too. :)

Have you ever tried this?

Easter Tablescape

Did you hear about the Easter and Spring tablescapes contest that Maddycakes Muse is hosting?

I can't wait to see all the submissions! It is definitely time for a dose of spring colors around here.

I won't have time to put anything extra special together for this contest (more about that later), but I'm going to submit the pictures of brunch we hosted last year.

My Grandma's blue tablecloth...such a fun color!

Yellow daisies!

My spring butterfly napkins, and green glass salad plates...topped with a cake pop. :)

And brunch is served!
